Muller Theory of Infatuation

Recently I was listening to a podcast of the Physics Class, "Physics for Future Presidents," by Dr. Muller at UC Berkeley (yes I'm that geeky). It's basically a physics immersion class that delves into understanding the implications of physics in the 'real' world. For example, in this podcast - the first lecture, Muller goes into Energy & Power, and relates the latent energy in a variety of things we know. He stresses that a square meter of solar panels collect only about 15% of the power of sunlight, roughly 15% of 1 horsepower - or 1/7th HP. This means that a solar car (those much hyped, vehicles of the future) could only ever now travel at 1/7th HP of power - a little slower than a good bicyclist. Even it we created ueberefficient panels, that's a 1HP car - like a horse and buggy. So forget the conspiracy theories on why we don't have solar cars. (On a side note - 1HP is roughly enough to power a home - maybe).
But the good old Doctor (an awarded genius, and a member of the JASONS - a 'semi-secret' group of scientists that do summer theoretical work for the military - but that's another blogpost) also mentions his Theory of Infatuation. That the larger your pupil size, the more attractive you appear. He cites research with students, where they find people find photos of people with larger eye pupils more attractive (even compared to photos of the same person).

The theory is, that a physical response to attraction is the dilation of the pupils. Which in turn makes the other person more attracted to you, and the cycle continues until you fall in love, get married and make lots of babies. Makes me want to keep dilation drops in my eyes. (As long as you aren't picked up for drug use.

I've added a pic or two to show you. It only shows you why I like Natalie Portman so much. (More of those pics at the "Is this thing on?" blog.
