A Good Old Fashioned Knighttime Beating

Well, it wasn't so old fashioned considering the unstoried history of Rutger's football. But it was a whooping. Bryan invited me to attend the RU - Louisville game last night. This same Thursday night game was the mother of all games 2 years ago with a huge RU upset in the waning seconds. This year things went a little differently.

It was perfect night football weather. Or rather just typical. 40 degrees and a little drizzly. But we were bundled up and ready to brave the wind and rain. After a great dinner at a local brewery with Bryan's boss and coworker (I suppose he finds me agreeable to present to the boss - at least I clean up well), we hit the packed stadium.

Any questions regarding the team performance were erased 2 minutes in when RU went up 7, recovered a 1 yardline fumble and went 99 yards for a touchdown. It was a thumping. 63 to 14. It was 59-0 at the half! In fact they scored in a 40 second drive with 18 seconds left. Teel tied the Big East TD record and set a bunch of school ones. All in all a fantastic football night. Thanks so much for the ticket! I had a fantastic time with Bryan's friends and feeling the football nostalgia.

A pig skin game is always fun...we are all getting nervous about Alabama over here- I guess be careful what you wish for, huh?

But at least your RU story gives me hope. Remember how RU use to be a community college and that they didn't have a team or any funding other than the state funding they received. Win a couple of games and the checks keep rolling!
